On 12 October 2008 the Australian Prime Minister announced deposits in all APRA regulated Authorised Deposit taking Institutions (ADIs) would be guaranteed by the Australian Government. Subsequent to the announcement, the guarantee was capped at $1,000,000 per investor. This is to become effective from 28 November 2008. |
